Class description

Are you a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D.? Are you currently writing or preparing to write a dissertation prospectus on a feminist subject? Would you like to develop and revise a strong and clear dissertation prospectus? Would you like to review your peers’ work and develop your editing skills?

The Feminist Doctoral Research Workshop is designed to meet the needs of graduate students writing dissertation prospectuses and preparing to undertake dissertation research. The goals you will meet in this quarter-long workshop are simple— 1) write and revise a draft of your prospectus and 2) hone your editing skills by reviewing your peers’ work. We will also discuss Institutional Review Board applications and funding sources for your research. Participating in this workshop with an interdisciplinary group of scholars will expose you to various intellectual fields and help you develop collaborative relationships. The prerequisites for this class are a dissertation topic with a feminist subject, a desire to share your work-in-progress, and a willingness to assist your peers in writing a great prospectus.
