Class description
URBDP 598D is a lab course designed to provide first-year MUP students with introductory practical knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software for current and future coursework in urban planning.
At the end of this course, all students should be functional in basic GIS skills in the ArcGIS software package, to the point where they can find necessary spatial data, manage this information on a desktop system, run simple spatial analyses, and present output in maps and data files. The format of this course will be flexible enough to meet specific needs of the students in the course, but there will be an overview provided of all of the major functions of ArcGIS.
