Explores the effect of environmental deterioration on human health, and presents tools to address the problem. Offered: Sp.

Class description

How environmental change affects the health of human populations, families and individuals. An introduction to emerging science in this area. Discussion about what you might do as a person and as a professional to affect what is happening.

General method of instruction

Lectures, readings, field trip January 28 to Port Townsend, problem-based case project for students electing 2-credit option.

Recommended preparation

Background in environmental science and/or in a health sciences field.

Class assignments and grading

One of two readings from the original literature each week, a project and presentation for students electing 2-credit option
