Examines cochlear implant fitting procedures, outcomes, and rehabilitation for children and adults. Offered: Sp.

Class description

Student learning goals

1. You should be able to explain the similarities and differences among the three FDA-approved cochlear implant devices to cochlear implant candidates and their families.

2. You should understand the basic programming principles for cochlear implant speech processors for adults and children.

3. You should be able to discuss rehabilitation options with cochlear implant users and their families.

4. You should be able to explain the typical outcomes for cochlear implant users to potential CI candidates.

Class assignments and grading

Most assignments are due by Monday at noon, one day before class. These assignments should be turned in via Collect It on the course website. The only exceptions to this are assignments 5 & 6 which should be brought to class on Tuesday, May 6.
