Class description
This is a graduate seminar, with all readings in Russian and discussion in both, Russian and English. The topic is NABOKOV'S RUSSIAN NOVELS, 1925-1937.

Understanding Russian emigre literature in the 1920s and 1930s
Understanding European Modernism
Developing more fluency in reading fairly complicated texts in Russian
Further developing research skills

General method of instruction
Seminar. Brief lectures but mostly discussions.
Recommended preparation
The seminar is for Slavic L&L graduate students but advanced majors or students from other departments with 4 years of Russian or native or near native fluency in Russian can enroll with the permission of the instructor.
