Group seminar format focused on physical therapy topics pertaining to transcurricular and professional practice issues. Credit/no credit only.
Class description
The focus of Physical Therapy Seminar this quarter is on research in physical therapy. In order for therapists to develop a practice base that has its foundation in evidence, it is necessary to be able to effectively access and utilize the research literature in physical therapy and related fields. This is true for all therapists regardless of their area and context of practice. Effective use of the research literature requires both an understanding of various research methods and the ability to critically appraise research reports. In-class experiences and assignments are designed to provide the students the opportunity to further develop skills in: 1) literature search, 2) research methods, and 3) critical appraisal of the research literature.
