Development of moral thought from Socrates through the Stoics. Particular emphasis on the ethical writings of Plato and Aristotle.

Class description

A survey of Greek ethical theory from Socrates through Aristotle and, time permitting, the Stoics. TEXTS: Plato’s The Trial And Death Of Socrates, Grube; Plato’s Protagoras, Lombardo and Bell; Plato’s Republic, Grube
