Introduction to Logic

Elementary symbolic logic. The development, application, and theoretical properties of an artificial symbolic language designed to provide a clear representation of the logical structure of deductive arguments.

Class description

The aim of this course is that you become acquainted with, and learn to manipulate, a formal system of deduction and acquire some proficiency in the techniques of formally symbolizing and evaluating deductive arguments. The course covers both propositional and quantificational logic. TEXT: Schaum’s Outline of Logic, Nolt, Rohatyn, and Varzi.
