Advanced Special Topics in Oceanography

Class description

This special topics course is focused on the Application Remotely Sensed data and Geostatistics in Earth Science Research. The course is ideally suited for those students who seek to develop more in-depth skills and an advanced understanding of the concepts behind modern tools for detecting, describing, and estimating spatial patterns and trends in earth observing satellite data. The course specifically addresses ways of investigating the spatial continuity that is an essential feature of natural phenomena.

Quantitative description of spatial pattern, Image processing

Lecture, software demo, projects

Recommended preparation

A background in a commercial GIS software and/or Image processing software

Class assignments and grading
