Selected topics of contemporary interest in oceanography such as hydrothermal vents, planetary volcanism, biogeochemical cycling, the ecology of Puget Sound, and the ocean's role in climate.
Class description
This new activity based seminar is designed to complement OCEAN220, a required class for oceanography majors, providing them support while learning field methods. You will learn by doing – through in class activities homework assignments, and a final project. You will learn how to interpret primary literature, formulate testable hypothesis and communicate your scientific findings in oral and written presentations.
