Special Topics in Music Theory

Prerequisite: either both MUSIC 303 and MUHST 210 or both MUSIC 312 and MUHST 314.

Class description

Autumn 2012: "Analysis of Musical Form"

This course will focus on the analysis of form in music from the common-practice period, with a particular emphasis on Beethoven's piano sonatas. Our methodology will be drawn from Schoenberg's highly influential Fundamentals of Musical Composition.
