Class description
Basic skills in accompanying are taught, which may include such topics as sight-reading, transposing, and collaborating with other musicians.
Student learning goals
General method of instruction
Weekly classes include topical discussions and master-class style performances.
Recommended preparation
An audition is required to receive admission to the class. The audition consists of playing a piano piece and sightreading several selections.
Class assignments and grading
Each student is assigned to 2 hours/week of accompanying voice or instrumental students, or choral groups.
