Class description
The purpose of this course is to provide you with a framework for building and refining your leadership skills. This is a “hands on” course for students who seek to learn more about how to effectively lead in organizations. Throughout the quarter, I will provide you with many opportunities for reflection, study, debate, and practice through which you can learn about leadership and enhancing effectiveness – both your own and that of other individuals and groups – in organizations. By exposing you to a combination of business cases and special readings on leadership, I will provide you with a comprehensive view of the organizational issues relevant to the practice of leadership.

General method of instruction
You may purchase your course pack from the UW Bookstore. You will have two options: (1) You may either purchase a complete set of all of your readings and cases (approx. $120) or, (2) you may obtain a “cases only” course pack containing only your cases (approx. $30) and download any additional readings from Blackboard. Please note that assigned readings will consist of cases and articles. Articles will be posted on Blackboard on a weekly basis; if you choose to purchase the “cases only” course pack, you will be responsible for downloading each article.
