Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Most classes will include discussion in small groups and as a whole class in addition to interactive lecture. These discussions are an essential part of the class, and attendance is required to get credit in the course.

Do not take this course if you will have to miss class (or part of class) on a regular basis.

Recommended preparation

Class assignments and grading

This is a credit/no credit class. To receive credit for the course, you must have credit for every one of the components: Classwork, Homework, Reflection Papers, a Project, and quizzes and tests. More details of what is required for credit in each of these will be available soon in the course syllabus.

The information above is intended to be helpful in choosing courses. Because the instructor may further develop his/her plans for this course, its characteristics are subject to change without notice. In most cases, the official course syllabus will be distributed on the first day of class.
