Public Library Services for Youth

Administration of youth departments in public libraries; planning and promoting programs and services; evaluation of library collections; community and professional roles of the youth librarian. Prerequisite: LIS 500 or permission of instructor.

Class description

We will explore the principles and practice of youth (children’s and teen) services in public libraries. My hope is that your work in this course will equip you to embark on a career in youth services in public libraries, both as an active youth services librarian and as a future manager and leader.
