LIS539A Visual Information and Image Collections (3 credits)
Introduction to theories of visual information and practicalities of organizing and describing images in visual resources collections, with focus on digital collections. Explores contexts of image use and users; physical and subject attributes of images; cataloging, classification, and indexing standards and vocabularies; and visual literacy as part of information literacy. Prerequisite: LIS 530, or permission of instructor.
