Survey of Linguistic Method and Theory

Examines major linguistic theories in phonology, syntax and semantics; linguistic analysis and argumentation. Not available for credit to students who have completed LING 200.

This course will provide broad coverage of the field of linguistics, including phonological and grammatical analysis, language as a fundamental characteristic of the human species, diversity and complexity of human languages, dimensions of language use, and language acquisition.
