Class description
Students will study the historical and modern relationship between sovereign Native communities and the United States and State governments.

General method of instruction
Because summer classes tend to be smaller, the class will be conducted in seminar fashion with students providing significant discussion of assigned topics.
Recommended preparation
Students should be prepared to attend this course at required standards. Because the class is small, being adequately prepared for discussion is a must.
Class assignments and grading
General reading assignments of approximately 20 pages per class.
Three hour final exam.
