Class description
Review basic, fundamental legal information sources, esp. statutes. Understand how to use print tools and how they fit into the legal research landscape. How print and electronic legal information sources permit efficient, high-quality research. How to plan and execute a legal research strategy to solve problems, emphasizing flexibility and keeping a legal research journal. Experience with application of citation rules using the Bluebook

Class assignments and grading
3 research problem assignments to demonstrate mastery of various tools and integration of tools into problem solving. 6-10 general exercises designed to introduce new tools so students can understand how and when to use them. Reading or tutorials to accompany all classroom sessions.
