Class description

Title of Special Topics Course: "Southeast Asia's Borderlands." Major topics to be covered include: theoretical perspectives on borders and frontiers; ethnicity in borderlands; trade, black markets, circulation and infrastructure; migration, refugees and trafficking; cross-border armed conflict; borderlands as zones of contacts; individual and community in historical and contemporary borderlands; diaspora; gender and borderlands.
