INFX 502 – Database Concepts for Information Professionals (1Cr): Introduces the terminology and concepts of working with relational database management systems. Emphasizes working with tables and extracting information from data using Structures Query Language (SQL) commands and tools. Prepares students for advanced database design courses, web design, and programming courses. Credit/ no credit only. Prerequisite: none. (Prepares students for INFX 543 and INFX 544)
Database applications, database management systems and database querying are primary enabling technologies for information professionals. An understanding of the principles and application of database systems is a critical success factor for information professionals taking leadership roles in future information systems initiatives. This course provides an introduction to the traditional principles of database design, implementation and usage.
