Discusses issues regarding social mobility, educational access, and social justice, with help from guest speakers, readings, and professional panels. Involves weekly travel to local high schools, mentoring low-income or first-generation juniors and seniors through the college admission process. Credit/ no-credit only. Offered: AWSp.
Class description
The course curriculum is dependent on the quarter. Autumn is focused on college admissions, winter on financial aid and scholarships, and spring on mentorship. To sign up, please register at our class website in addition to MyUW.

Student learning goals
General method of instruction
The course is student-run, and will primarily consist of guest speakers, breakout sessions, and discussions in addition to the weekly high school visits.
Recommended preparation
No preparation is required and the course is open to all undergrads. Any experience working with high school students or an interest in education would be a great help.
Class assignments and grading
Two short reflection papers at the middle and end of the quarter.
Credit is assigned based on participation.
