Student learning goals
General method of instruction
There will be a two hour discussion of asigned reading per week. Students will also write papers on the assigned readigns, and prepare a reading list for continued work in the field.
Recommended preparation
Familiarity with late imperial China, acquired through HSTAS 453 or similar course.
Class assignments and grading
Papers on the assigned readigns in selected weeks of the quarter.
