Introduction to the English-language literature on the Yuan, Min, and Qing dynasties. Recommended: either HSTAS 453 or equivalent.
Class description
This term this course will explore recent scholarship on the topic of literati culture during the Song period.

This course is designed for students with previous coursework on Chinese history. Students are encouraged to attend the lectures for HSTAS 452 if they have not taken it.
Class assignments and grading
One five page book critique and one 15 page paper, plus occasional class presentations.
