Colloquium in History

Each seminar examines a different subject or problem. A quarterly list of the seminars and their instructors is available in the Department of History undergraduate advising office.

Class description

This course will look at primary and secondary sources related to the Hajj, sufi saints, shrines, and Islamic pilgrimage (ziyarat). Students will prepare a research project based on their area of interest.

Class assignments and grading

1 page response papers; annotated bibliography and research proposal; rough draft of 15 page research paper; final draft of research paper; presentation

Grades will be based on preparation for and participation in in-class discussions, 15 page research paper, and presentation.
