Class description
Winter 2008:
This class is an introduction to the language and customs of the German business world. It will prepare students to both work in a German business or work for an American company that has active trade relations with Germany. Topics of discussion will include, among others, German business structure, sales practices, human resources and trade negotiations.
Student learning goals
General method of instruction
Through role-play and presentations, students will practice what it means to apply for a position with a German company: putting together a resume, honing interviewing skills and practicing phone skills. Students will also prepare a short presentation on a German product of their choice. Time permitting the class will view some episodes of the current German version of the popular TV series, The Office, called Stromberg.
