The Geography of Air Transportation

Geographic analysis of world air routes, passenger and cargo flows, and airport activities; consideration of physical, economic, political, and institutional determinants of routes and flows.

Class description

An analysis of commercial airline routes and traffic patterns.

Lectures and directed independent research

Recommended preparation

Basic familiarity with economic geography or business economics

Class assignments and grading

Assigned textbook; supplemental readings; directed research efforts making use of airline materials such as time tables, route maps, ads and statistics.
