Tutorial for Majors

Overview of the discipline of geography including faculty research interests, teaching philosophies, and course offerings as well as essential study and research skills and career developments strategies. Students meet concurrently with faculty adviser to identify academic interests and devise plan of studies. Credit/no credit only. Offered: ASp.

Class description

Overview of the discipline of geography and the faculty and geography major at the UW. Topics include: main subject areas and research interests in geography; introduction of faculty and presentation of their teaching philosophies, research interests and course offerings; review of essential study and research skills and the use of various electronic tools (Internet, etc.); overview of undergraduate curriculum, and career development strategies for geography majors. Must be taken within two quarters of entering the department. Credit/No Credit only.
