Student learning goals

General method of instruction

General Studies 199 meets once a week for one hour, at which point there will be a number of discussions, campus resource tours, student panels, and various other activities to help students get to know each other and learn more about what it means to be a Husky.

Recommended preparation

Come ready to learn - no preparation needed.

Class assignments and grading

There will be weekly assignments designed to get students thinking about the material covered in the next class, as well as several excursions (some that will be completed as a group and others individually). Ultimately everything culminates in the portfolio project, which gives students an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned during their first quarter.

This class is credit/no credit - all work must be completed in a timely manner in order to receive credit.

The information above is intended to be helpful in choosing courses. Because the instructor may further develop his/her plans for this course, its characteristics are subject to change without notice. In most cases, the official course syllabus will be distributed on the first day of class.
