Designed to bring students to an advanced level of proficiency in grammar and composition. Emphasis on experiencing the language in context through a multi-media approach. FRENCH 303 prepares students for literature classes. First in a sequence of three. Prerequisite: either FRENCH 203 or FRENCH 234.
Class description
French 301 allows students to review French grammar at an advanced level and to acquire the essentials of French composition, through the study of written and audiovisual authentic cultural material. This course is conducted exclusively in French.

General method of instruction
Lectures, in-class exercises and compositions, quizzes.
Recommended preparation
Students must attend class every day of instruction, including the conversation sessions. They myst keep up with the weekly readings and grammar, vocabulary and/or composition exercises.
Class assignments and grading
Number of graded take home assignments: 5 one-page compositions with double-correction by instructor, 3 one-page in-class compositions, and 2 grammar/vocabulary exams, plus comprehensive final exam.
