Weekly seminars covering water resources and watershed topics with lectures from scientists on and off campus. Credit/no credit only. Offered: jointly with FISH 529/PB AF 521; AWSp.
Class description
A large lecture class featuring faculty, researchers, and other professionals in the environmental sciences, natural resource management, and public policy fields. Speakers from within and outside UW will present each week on a variety of water-related topics of regional importance.
Student learning goals
Students can expect to develop a deeper understanding of many of the important water resource and watershed science issues facing society today. Moreover, the seminar provides exposure to the interdisciplinary expertise needed to address complex water issues.
General method of instruction
Lecture presentation followed by a question and answer period. Audio recordings of the talks together with the slide presentations are available on The Water Center website following the lecture for purposes of review.
Recommended preparation
No advance preparation required but supplemental material may be provided ahead of time to allow students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the issues in advance.
Class assignments and grading
No written assignments. No final exam.
