P-Introduction to Family Medicine: Preceptorship

Students spend one morning per week for one or more quarters working with a practicing community family physician. Prerequisite: first- and second-year medical students, permission of course coordinator. Offered: AWSpS.

Practice patient case presentations

Explore the discipline of family medicine

Explore the role of behavior change counseling in promoting patient health and well-being

General method of instruction

Preceptorship

Recommended preparation

Review online course manual

Class assignments and grading

Attend eight half-days with preceptor Complete a learning plan with preceptor Submit four online journals Meet with course director for midquarter review

Successful completion of above course assignments
