Class description
Students will learn about and discuss the exciting events of 1989 and after in Eastern Europe. While a historical overview of Eastern Europe in the 20th century is one component of the class, interpretations of how "revolutionary" 1989 really was and developments in the post-communist era will also be covered in the course.

The class is heavily oriented towards readings and in-class discussions. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific countries/regions for the time period of the class.

There will be reading assignments every week, as well as a substantial research paper at the end of the course.
