Class description

This is a course about ionospheric physics. We will use Mike Kelley's recently revised book by that name: The Earth's Ionosphere: Plasma Physics and Electrodynamics By Michael C. Kelley (2009).

Student learning goals

We will learn the unique characteristic differences between equatorial, midlatitude and high latitude ionosphere plasmas.

General method of instruction

lecture & problems sets.

Recommended preparation

Recommended: Introductory plasma physics (such as offered by ESS515 or AA405)
