Individual tutorial study of topics for which there is not sufficient demand to warrant the organization of regular classes. Offered: AWSpS.

Class description

This lecture/laboratory course will focus on the mushroom-forming fungi in Pacific Northwest forests. Lecture topics will include basics of fungal biology, diversity of forest fungi, and the essential ecosystem roles they play. Labs will be devoted to fundamentals of classification, hands-on study and identification of mushrooms, and preparation of permanent herbarium specimens. Attendance at one 1-day weekend fieldtrip will be required.
