Discussion and practice of second-language teaching techniques. Three hours per week teaching required in addition to regular class meetings. Credit/no-credit only. Prerequisite: ENGL 571 or permission of instructor.
Class description
This credit/noncredit course is designed to sharpen practicing teachers' experiential understanding of the technical, personal, and practical elements involved in effective language teaching Along with your daily experience teaching an ELP class, you will observe ESOL classes taught by others and participate in seminar discussions on the challenges and rewards of language teaching. This is primarily an opportunity for you to increase your awareness of your own attitudes and approaches to teaching. I will observe each of you teach at least once during the quarter.
