Writing Ready: Preparing for College Writing

Builds writing confidence through frequent informal writing, and introductions to key learning strategies. Includes user-friendly orientation to library and research documents, revision skills, and peer review work central to 100- and 200-level college writing assignments. Offered: A.

Class description

This course is a bridge class in preparation for college writing. Over the course of four weeks, you will learn and practice the foundations for effective, critical writing, while also engaging in metacognitive reflection to consider your own learning processes. The larger goal for the class is to think about how you may enhance your writing by assessing your own strengths and difficulties.

Be more comfortable as writers and gain confidence in writing ability.

Leave the class better skilled as college-level readers, writers and learners.

Become familiar and gain experience with campus resources and facilities.

There will be three major writing assignments, one presentation, and a final portfolio.
