Multilingual Socialization and Development

Explores the research base examining second language acquisition, in and out of school contexts. Focuses on the home language practices of linguistically diverse students with the purpose of understanding how these processes influence school learning.

Class description

This class aims to prepare you to be cognizant of the special situation of English language learners in your classrooms and to integrate academic language teaching with content teaching. Explores English linguistic structure and peculiarities, academic language and subject area language, sociolinguistic issues and second language development.
