Class description
The focus of this class is to learn to make your own basic dancewear, including tights, t-shirts, camisoles, dance pants, rehearsal skirts, and other pieces depending on student interests. You can expect to finish a small collection of personalized patterns and dance clothes. We'll cover patterning, fitting, and sewing stretch fabrics, and how to copy your favorite rehearsal clothes. Please note that students can expect to spend a minimum of $75 for fabric and thread.
Student learning goals
A general understanding of the patterning, fitting, and sewing of stretch wear.
General method of instruction
There is a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice.
Recommended preparation
Choose some favorite garments to copy; buy at least one yard of cotton lycra that you like (suggested sources: Seattle Fabrics; Spandexworld.com)
