Class description

Beginning IPA for Actors

This course introduces students to the International Phonetic Alphabet and its useful application for actors. Actors interested in dialect work will find knowledge of the IPA especially helpful.

Mastery of the IPA assists the actor in identifying and recreating the many nuanced, individual sounds in spoken language, resulting in greater authenticity and ease with dialects, and in increased clarity of speech.
