Advanced Stage Lighting Design

Development of a working process consistent with current professional practice. Includes drafting, worksheets, study of color. Students read plays and develop analytical skills. Recommended: DRAMA 212.

Class description

Development of a conceptual and technical process for designing lighting for stage performance.

Student learning goals

General method of instruction

Includes play analysis, conceptual development, organization of lighting ideas, worksheets, plotting, instrument selection, color selection, and drafting. Includes both theoretical (paper) and practical (live) assignments.

Recommended preparation

Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor, Drafting (may be taken concurrently.)
