Explores theory and practice of fundamentals of American "method," based on principles of Stanislavsky and their American evolution. Preparation of audition material and scene work within the context of entire play. Recommended: DRAMA 251. Offered: W.

Class description

Continuing concentration on practical tools for performance, including a deeper consideration of given circumstances, the beat before, obstacle, action and objective, and some basic staging. Students work with two different partners on two contemporary scenes. An audition is required sometime during the year-long Drama 250 series and is part of the student's Drama 253 grade.

General method of instruction

It is a lecture/studio section format, with a faculty lecturer in one session per week for all sections, and two studio classes taught weekly by graduate Acting students.
