Class description

Course Objectives:
• To increase your dance vocabulary • To enrich the quality of your dancing • To reinforce your basic technique • To build strength • To expand your expressive range and enhance your creativity
Missed classes:
There are no make up classes or incompletes given for dance technique courses. If you are feeling well, I expect you to be in class and participating to your fullest. If you become injured or suffer a prolonged illness during the quarter then you will need to schedule an appointment with me (or send an email) to discuss your situation.

Studio Etiquette:
• Understand the class structure and responsibilities of the learner. • Demonstrate an understanding of the class structure by arriving in the studio prepared for class and allowing sufficient time to warm up. • Be respectful of your peers, instructor, and the musician at all times. • Receive and apply feedback and correction in a respectful manner. • Work safely and effectively in class and allow others to do so. • Apply focus and concentration. • If for some reason you are unable to dance, please inform the instructor before class begins. • In the event of an injury alert the instructor immediately. • No street shoes, gum, beverages, or food are allowed in the studios – plastic water bottles are permitted. • Do not attend class if you are ill. General method of instruction
Course outline:
Week 1-2: Advanced Ballet Fundamentals: emphasis on barre exercises Week 3-4: Emphasis on turning Week 5-6: Emphasis on jumps Week 7: Emphasis on combination, expression and quality of dance movements Week 8-9: Work on a Ballet variation

Requirements:
Everyone is required to attend the M.F.A. Concert May 10-13, Meany Studio Theatre, http://www.meany.org/tickets/index.aspx. Turn in your ticket with your name on it before May 18th. Tickets are available at the Ticket Office 4001 University Way NE or call 206-543-4880
