Introduction to basic building materials, with emphasis on techniques for assembly and utilization in residential and light construction, including materials such as concrete, brick, and wood. Offered: AS.
Class description
This course progresses through the development of buildings under construction. First, the students begin with soils and foundations. Second, they continue with structural elements in wood, brick, concrete and steel. Third, they become familiar with exterior cladding and roofing systems. Fourth, they gain an awareness of interior finish components as well as installation and coordination issues.
