Lecture series by faculty members from various departments, authorities in the field of clinically important infectious diseases. Lectures, reading assignments, and handouts emphasize epidemiology, clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Oriented for second-year medical students. Credit/no credit only.
Class description
Better understanding of clinical infectious diseases, including an understanding of the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases.

Recommended preparation
Basic microbiology recommended. Medical students must have completed their first year. Pharmacy students must have completed Pharm 560. Nurse practitioner students will need permission from Terri Simpson (tsimpson@u.washington.edu). Physician assistant students will need permission from Barbara Daniels (bdd@u.washington.edu).
Class assignments and grading
Reading, reviewing notes before and after lectures. Note: There is no syllabus other than the material on the course web site.
Mid-term open book (on-line). Multiple-choice final examination.
