Varying topics in cinema studies. Offered by resident or visiting faculty.
Class description
Cinema has an impact as how the people of the Middle East see themselves. This seminar will analyze the function of cinema in these cultures and their communal and individual identities.
Student learning goals
Students and the faculty member will evaluate jointly topics such as religious transformations, violence, identity, revolution, gender, same-sex relations, immigration and exile, as communicated through film.
General method of instruction
Lecture and discussion.

Class assignments and grading
One midterm exam, paper, class participation, and oral presentation.
The final evaluation is based on the exam, paper, class participation, and oral presentation.
