Class description

Credit/No Credit. "Defining Democracy, Ancient and Modern: A microseminar with Josiah Ober" will approach the question of democracy and its value from a number of disciplinary and methodological persepctives. In order to gain a fuller understanding of democracy’s meaning and utility, we will study antiquity and modernity comparatively and apply the resulting insights to contemporary democracies.
