The earth's atmosphere, with emphasis on weather observations and forecasting. Daily weather map discussions. Highs, lows, fronts, clouds, storms, jet streams, air pollution, and other features of the atmosphere. Physical processes involved in weather phenomena. Intended for nonmajors. Offered: AWSpS.

Class description

This class will provide a good basic introduction to how the atmosphere works, how forecasts are made, and how you can be a good weather consumer.

General method of instruction

Lectures with a lot of graphics and videos. A 10-minute weather discussion will start each class.

Recommended preparation

No prerequisites.
