Class description
Course Objectives: This course aims at further developing advanced skills in Japanese using content-based instruction. Using authentic reading materials concerning development of well-known Japnaese companies and products, students are expected to develop academic (and professional) skills in Japanese as well as increased vocabulary and Kanji knowledge. Throughout the course, students will read authentic materials written for native speakers of Japanese without word-by-word translation, write short summaries of the readings and short essays about the content of the readings. In addition, oral presentations and participation in discussion in Japanese are expected. Also, research skills using library materials in Japanese will be practiced.
