Class description

Summer 2008 Vanguard Painting: From Post-Impressionism to Early Abstraction

This course will examine advanced modernist painting in Europe from the 1870s through the 1910s. In the first half of the course, we will see artworks first-hand in the exhibition "Impressionism and the Old Masters" at the Seattle Art Museum, which will feature works by Manet, Degas, and Cezanne.
